One of our projects is restoration of a B&O Class I-5BA Wagon Top Bay Window Caboose. It was Donated to the BHTC from the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum located at 300 S. Burhans Blvd. Hagerstown, MD.
C 2506 represents (1) of only (3) in its number Series was not scraped
.
The exterior of the caboose is presently in fair condition and our intent is to complete a cosmetic restoration of the exterior to its original 1939 B&O paint scheme. The interior of the caboose was gutted by a fire while it was being stored at the Potomac Eagle Railroad in Romney, WV. Our plan is to reconstruct the interior to a room for displaying railroad artifacts and for teaching Operation Life Saver to visitors and school groups.
